How safe is the city of Merida?

 

Merida (and generally the state of Yucatan) is very safe and quiet. According to the national survey published each year on safety and sponsored by independent entities such as COPARMEX, ITESM, UNAM, CCE, and others of importance, Yucatan is and has been for the last few years the federal entity´s safest country, with crime rates close to those of the world´s safest nations. In Merida, you can safely take a walk at night in the streets or go to an ATM to withdraw money without worrying about being assaulted. These are just some of the many privileges enjoyed by its inhabitants.
